What truly matters is not necessarily the exact amount of MMS used, as long as it is sufficient for the desired reaction, since this process can be considered a form of saturation (you can follow the video titled “HOW TO MAKE CDS” for a detailed guide). The crucial factor is the final coloration of the CDS, which serves as a reliable indicator of the concentration of chlorine dioxide present in the water. 

To put it simply: if we happen to add too much MMS, the resulting reaction will be greater and more vigorous. However, what is really important to note is how long the gas remains diluted in the secondary water container, as this duration can affect the outcome. In cases where there is any uncertainty or doubt about whether the process has reached the appropriate level, it is perfectly sufficient to remove the tube when we believe that the water has taken on the correct shade of light yellow, which should be reminiscent of the color of sunflower oil.
